Cover Art for Elena Andersen
I work very closely to musician and close friend Elena Andersen. We have brainstormed and executed a countless amount of visual ideas for songs, music videos, cover art, etc. The series of images above are from my favorite creative photoshoot for her song "Blurry" off of her 2024 EP "Two AM".
Working with Elena and other artists alike has allowed me to embrace my synesthesia. For those who don't know, synesthesia is defined by, "a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway" (source). For me, this manifests heavily when I listen to music. Music and other auditory stimulation causes my brain to form visuals, colors, shapes, and much more.
Fragile Masculinity

As I dive into my own introspection, paying more attention to how energy flows in and out of all of us, I began to think about the differences in feminine and masculine energies. All beings have both, but society creates expectations for men, women, and non-binary people to fit into one or the other. The idea that our external impressions determine what we should like, the activities we engage in, etc. is bizarre to me. What fun is limiting your authentic joy because you are being perceived as something different? All in all, I was inspired to take a masculine model and make him pose with some light and delicate flowers to get my point across. Manly men can pick pretty flowers too.
